One of my personal issues with NASCAR has to do with the fact that to me it is quite redundant and repetitive, as these races last for hundreds upon hundreds of laps, endlessly going in the same circle for hours on end. Central Avenue, a plank road, was laid out in 1874 and connected what is now the Macombs Dam Bridge with the racetrack. (No one ever did it, thank God.). I am in Sidney 2-3 days a week f or work and dont remember seeing it.

NASCAR is known for its high speed of racing. The dirt has piled up, the paint has faded, the grasses and shrubs have grown tall around the structures, the fence is sagging and rusty, pavement cracked and roofs leaky.

This photo was taken at the end of the day, just after sunset. Untapped New York unearths New York Citys secrets and hidden gems. I know the track that's pictured, however I believe it is a private track builit for training horses. The rail spur was extended four miles across the N.Y. & Harlem River Railroad tracks, through Bronx Park, and down Pelham Bay Parkway to the Meadows, tide lands formed by the head waters of Westchester Creek and Westchester Bay. I'm not sure that Dominic and rival promoter Glenn Donnelly got along. I believe I once heard that he may have paid the lawyers fees for the "locals" that wanted it closed. I know someone who used to go to the races there way back then. Though its not as old as Brooklands, this circuit is a close second as it was built in the 1920s. Its elevated site gave an extensive view of the surrounding countryside.

This tarmac, while maintained and kept in tip-top shape, was able to allow race cars to drive across the surface, hurtling along at phenomenal speeds, round and round endlessly. It was built in 1953 off of the Carlisle Pike and closed after the 2005 season. One thing about the track is that if you we're unlucky enough to get over the high 3rd turn wall you would go down a big ravine.
